G P and J Baker
The GP and J refer to the Baker brothers, George Percival and James, who founded the company in 1884.
For well over a hundred years the company produced prints and weaves of the highest quality and in more recent times that expertise has been successfully brought to bear on wall-coverings.
The most sought-after collection is Threads, a wallpaper of understated luxury which is complemented by a harmonising range of prints, the combination of which results in a sumptuous effect typical of that which GP and J Baker have been producing since the late 19th century. Another favourite is the Emperor's Garden range.
The company continues to develop its own traditional style while at the same time enhancing its reputation as one of the world's innovators of wallpaper and fabric design.
GP and J Baker is also responsible for the distribution of Kravet, Brunschwig & Fils, and Lee Jofa, and produces Mulberry Home fabrics, wallpapers and accessories under licence.
It might interest you to note that, as holder of the Royal Warrant since 1984, GP and J Baker, which has one of the largest and most exciting privately-owned textile archives in the world, provides fabrics that are used in Royal residences both at home and abroad.
