Sophie Conran
English home-style designer Sophie Conran is the daughter of designer and restaurateur Sir Terence Conran and food writer Caroline Conran, the sister of fashion designer Jasper Conran, restaurateur Tom, artist Edmund and product designer Sebastian.
Following in the family tradition, she, too, is a cook and author. However, it is her wallpapers, designed exclusively for Arthouse, for which she is justifiably most well-known. She has brought her delicate, feminine trademark to a range of wall-coverings beautifully drawn with traditionally inspiring designs. Some of these, such as Magnolia Flower in Red, have cleverly been given a modern feel with the use of eye-catching colouring.
One of her most popular collections is one which Sophie herself says is all about childhood memories and her recollections of growing up, firstly in the English countryside and then moving to the big city and going on overseas adventures. It also chronicles her transition from a child to an adult and the 'amazing' world opening up around her at that time. Wallpapers in this dreamily nostalgic collection include Balustrade, Coconut Grove, Lazy Days, London Lights, Opening Doors, Pose, Postcards Home, Silver Lining, Odette and Belle.
