Thibaut was founded as long ago as 1886 by Richard E Thibaut and at one time was acclaimed as the world's largest wallpaper company. He once wrote that Thibaut provides "the choicest colourings and designs which are unsurpassed by any line of Wallpapers offered." The company does its utmost to continue in this tradition.Although Thibaut has changed from being merely a wallpaper distributor to a classy design house, it still operates as a close-knit, family orientated company and remains the oldest wallpaper company in the United States.
It has a vast repertoire of fabric patterns, with each collection containing a distinct group of designs in traditional, nautical, stripes or toile.
